The stars and planets must have all been aligned on the 1st weekend in Oct. 2005 because it was as perfect a trail ride
as one could ever hope for. The weather was perfect, the trails were excellent, the food was wonderful,
and a better gathering of riders could not have been hand picked!
Sixty riders enjoyed beautiful, challenging new trails on the Natural Gait 3rd Annual Trail Ride.
Thanks to the generosity of our gracious friends and neighbors we were able to explore parts of N.E.
Iowa’s scenic bluff country that normally only wildlife get to enjoy.
And speaking of wildlife, boy did we have some! Sylvia got the crowd "a hoopin, a hollerin,
and a minglin’ in teams and in "every man for themselves" games. Wallflowers were hard to find in this crew!
Friday night’s potluck was a feast of fine fare and friendship. Then while we all rode out
for a perfect all day ride on Saturday, Sue and her crafty Gait crew whipped up a fabulous meal with all the trimmings
and transformed the indoor arena into a festive abode indeed, with candles, wildflowers arrangements and twinkling lights.
It was the perfect setting to sit back on a full belly and enjoy some top notch entertainment. Larry "Pic" Pickel graced
us with his cowboy poetry and storytelling, followed by the band "Santa Fe".
After Sunday’s ride it was time for everyone to load up and take home plenty of wonderful new memories,
or at least enough to get by till next year!
